Pendant And Necklace Guide

Necklaces and pendants are popular jewelry pieces. It is becoming increasingly common to stack your necklaces and pendants now. A necklace provides a continuous chain of gemstones and/or diamonds around the neck, while a pendant is a hanging ornament that lies on the chain of a necklace.

Types of Necklaces:

  1. Chain Necklace: a simple, classic metal chain that can be worn plain or have hanging pendants.

  2. Choker Necklace: sits around the neck, a fashion choice dated back to ancient civilization.

  3. Tennis Necklace: like a tennis bracelet, consisting of diamonds or gemstones encircling the neck. can come in a variety of shapes, styles, and sizes.

  4. Bridal Necklace: popular amongst brides in South Asia, these necklaces are often large and feature a variety of diamonds and gemstones.

  5. High-End Necklaces: often seen on celebrities on the red carpet, high-end fashion necklaces are maximal and bold.

Sizing

Necklaces: the most common lengths for necklaces are:

  • 16 inches for a choker

  • 18 inches for a princess

  • 20-24 inches for a matinee

  • 24+ inches for options such as opera.

Sizes may vary based on neck size, personal preference and the intended style.

Pendants: there are no common lengths for pendants but here are some tips:

  1. Make sure that the weight of the pendant can be held by the chain. For example, a heavy pendant may not sit well on a very light and dainty chain.

  2. Small pendants suit a delicate chain, and big, bold pendants would suit a thicker, more dressy chain.
