Earrings are a versatile and essential accessory that can elevate your outfits from casual wear to formal attire. Earrings come in a vast variety of styles, shapes, and sizes, each with its own unique appeal. This Earring Guide will help you to navigate the different types of earrings and different earring posts to help you to pick the perfect pair for any occasion.

Types of Earrings

  1. Solitaires: Solitaires are considered to be the most classic earring types. They consist of a single gemstone or diamond, mounted on a simple setting. They are evergreen, and are a popular choice for everyday wear, and can be dressed up for special occasions too. Solitaire earrings can be set in prong setting or bezel setting.

  2. Hoops: Hoops are circular or semicircular earrings that encircle below the earlobe. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and designs and provide a very bold statement. Hoops can be classic or can be huggies- smaller versions of hoops that ‘hug’ the earlobe, oftentimes snug.

3. Drops: Drop earrings are dangling earrings that feature gemstones, or diamonds and add movement and sparkle to your look. They sit below the earlobe and can range from simple and delicate to elaborate and maximal.

4. Fashion Earrings: Fashion earrings can also be referred to as statement earrings and they are designed to create a bold impact. These earrings often have unique designs and vary in materials, size, and gemstones.

Types of Earring Posts

Earring posts, or earring backs, provide support to your earrings. Choosing the correct earring back is just as important as choosing the earring, as it ensures comfort and security to the wearer. Depending on the style of the earring and its weight, the type of earring back will vary. Here are a few:

  1. Friction Backs (Butterfly Backs): The most common type of earring back, these posts ue a small metal piece that slides onto the post of the earring and holds it in place

  2. Screw Backs: Life a friction back post, this back is screwed onto a threaded post to provide a safer and more ideal fit.

  3. Lever Backs: Lever backs have a hook at the back that geos through the ear and is snapped shut behind the ear. This is a comfortable and secure option, used oftentimes with drop earrings.
